Jason Statham once had Olympic dreams ... and hair!
The Hollywood star was once a diving hotshot in England and actually represented England in Auckland at the 1990 Commonwealth Games in New Zealand. His Olympic dreams weren't meant to be, as he failed to medal in all three competitions that he was in.
A old video has been making the rounds this week showing the actor in the Commonwealth Games competition. In it, he looks in shape as he usually is. It also shows him with a full head of brown hair, something he hasn't had in ages.
While speaking at the Los Angeles premiere of his new film "Mechanic: Resurrection," on Monday, he was asked about his semi-successful diving career.
"It's a bit of a sore point I never got to the Olympics," he told reporters. "I just heard they got seven million or something for the diving per year. They deserve it. The divers we've got now are just terrific."
He added, "I started too late. It probably wasn't my thing. I should have done a different sport."
The Great Britain team took home three medals in the Rio Olympics in various diving competitions.
Jason certainly knows that his life turned out pretty darned well.
"I think I'm more suited to action movies than courtroom dramas so I tend to stick to those," he said. "It's something I get a lot of fulfillment out of. I feel I'm better at those than I am at other stuff."
But, that doesn't mean he stays away from the water all together. In an interview with Esquire last year, he said that he and his fiance, actress Rosie Huntington-Whiteley "get drunk and float around the swimming pool."
