Being Lamar Odom's caretaker is taking a toll on Khloe Kardashian, emotionally -- and maybe financially.
A source tells Us Weekly Khloe's been "fully supporting" Lamar since he was hospitalized last fall after being found unconscious in a Nevada brothel following an apparent drug and alcohol binge. She's been at his side ever since and is reportedly handling his finances while he continues his recovery.
When the former NBA star was spotted ordering drinks with friends at Johnny O'Brien's pub in Los Angeles last weekend, Khloe seemed frustrated, tweeting, "I hate this feeling … helpless" shortly after the news of his bar hang surfaced.
"She is very worried, but Lamar refuses to listen to her. He actually said, 'Nothing will happen to me. Look at how I survived this last one,'" says Us Weekly's source.
Despite staying out until around 1am at Johnny O'Brien's -- TMZ reported he drank three Remy Martins -- Lamar still joined Khloe and her family at church on Easter Sunday. According to TMZ's source, he may have shown up for church to prove he could handle the booze.
Photographed walking into the service alongside an all-white clad Khloe, Lamar appeared to be wearing the same clothes from the night before.
But an insider close to Lamar assures Us he didn't consume any alcohol at the bar.
"He went out with Khloe's security to meet some friends and get out of the house. He bought them the drinks, but didn't drink himself," says the source. "Khloe's security guard was with him, which is just like having Khloe with you. He just wanted to get out into the real world for a second and feel normal."
The source also maintained Khloe's managing Lamar's accounts, not paying his bills with her own funds.
She "authorizes the management company to pay using Lamar's money" because she's taken over as his caretaker, the insider says, adding that "it is Lamar's money, not her money."
A few days after Easter, Khloe seemed to be back in good spirits, focusing on her show, "Kocktails with Khloe," and staying positive.
"Please be kind always because everyone you meet is fighting an internal battle you know nothing about," she tweeted on March 30.
"It takes nothing to be kind. In fact it takes more energy to spew negativity. Let's practice kindness &the contagious act of a smile today."
