Baroness Doreen Lawrence, who is the mother of murdered teen
Stephen Lawrence, claimed the
Daily Mail paid private investigator
Jonathan Rees for "secretly stealing information."

"Jonathan Rees confirmed that he had done more things for the
Daily Mail… aimed at secretly stealing information about me and the investigations into Stephen's murder," Baroness Doreen Lawrence said, per
Daily Express.

Despite Baroness Doreen Lawrence's comments, Jonathan Rees denied the claims when asked by Channel 4's investigation program.
Jonathan Rees said he was offered to do things for the outlet, but he "didn't get involved."

When it was noted that Baroness Doreen Lawrence's witness statement was "based on your confirmation that you had done the bugging operation," Rees replied: "Right, well they're going to have to rethink that, and their legal team is going to have to re-think that."

Weeks before Jonathan Rees made his comment, private investigator
Gavin Burrows, whose alleged confession was mentioned in
Prince Harry's witness statement, said his signature was "forged."
