In an update on
Instagram, Meghan Markle shared a video taken by
Princess Lilibet of herself and
Prince Harry dancing in their backyard. "When 2026 feels just like 2016…. you had to be there. Cred: our daughter," she captioned the clip, paired with a throwback picture that seems to have been taken in Botswana.

According to royal expert
Alicia Liberty, this was another attempt by Meghan Markle to capture the public. "It proves once again that attention, not privacy, remains the driving force behind her every decision. And the more her influence wanes, the more deliberate these moments appear to become," she wrote for
Daily Express.

While Meghan Markle appeared to give her own twist on the 2016 trend, Alicia Liberty claimed it was simply to stand out. "This wasn't about sentimentality or looking back fondly — it was a calculated throwback designed to spark engagement and pull focus back onto her," she wrote.

Although some may find the post sentimental, Alicia Liberty feels it's a classic move out of Meghan Markle's PR playbook. "As someone who has spent years analyzing Meghan Markle's public image, her latest move on social media says more than any interview ever could. The Duchess's carefully timed post was not spontaneous or sentimental — it was strategic," she said.
