"I spent the weekend like probably a lot of you did, looking at my phone and just feeling shocked and sick at what's happening in Minneapolis," Jimmy Kimmel began. "One video after another: screaming people being torn from their families, Americans, people who were born in the United States being pulled out of their cars for the crime of having an accent or whatever. Children, small children, babies being tear-gassed, taken into custody, separated from their parents."He continued: "Just one atrocity after another being committed by this gang of poorly trained, shamefully led, mask-wearing goons. And that is what they are: They're goons committing vile, heartless, and even criminal acts. It's sickening to watch, and it's frustrating to watch."

The late-night host then slammed people who voted for Donald Trump, arguing that seeing "fellow Americans executed by ICE" should infuriate the nation."Is that the law and order that you voted for? Where are the reasonable voices on the right? We need some decent people on the right to show some courage and some common sense," he fumed. "Every day is a nightmare now."

The comedian said the story hits home since he and wife Molly McNearney have family in Minneapolis."They're afraid to take their kids to school. They're afraid to go to work," he said. "And I can only imagine how people who aren't white feel about this!"

According to ABC News, Alex Pretti was shot at by two federal officers on Saturday, January 24, in Minneapolis. A Department of Homeland report sent to Congress notes Pretti attempted to reach for his weapon. The report says "DHS conducted a preliminary review of body-worn camera footage and Customs and Border Protection documentation from the scene and is notifying lawmakers of what they say are key details from before and after Pretti was shot and killed," the outlet reported.
According to the report, "CBP [Customs and Border Protection] personnel attempted to take Pretti into custody. Pretti resisted CBP personnel's efforts and a struggle ensued. During the struggle, a BPA yelled, 'He's got a gun!' multiple times. Approximately five seconds later, a BPA discharged his CBP-issued Glock 19 and a CBPO also discharged his CBP-issued Glock 47 at Pretti. After the shooting, a BPA advised he had possession of Pretti's firearm."
The report does not specify when agents took Pretti's firearm.
