There were signs of trouble in paradise weeks before Scottie Pippen filed to divorce wife of 19 years Larsa Pippen in Florida on Oct. 18.

According to TMZ, police were called to the NBA Hall of Famer's home twice within the past three weeks for domestic disturbance incidents, and a spokesperson for Larsa has confirmed the shocking report to E! News.

TMZ reports that on Oct. 2, the Fort Lauderdale Police Department responded to what Kim Kardashian West's longtime pal allegedly described as a "heated verbal argument" -- which did not turn physical -- with the retired basketball star. When police arrived at the couple's home, they reportedly found Larsa sitting outside in her car.

According to TMZ, Scottie told the cops that his missus could come back inside and promised that there would be no more issues -- he even offered to leave if that would make the former star of "The Real Housewives of Miami" more comfortable. But ultimately, Larsa left the property to spend the night at another location, and no arrests were made.

Just two days later, police returned to the couple of nearly two decades' home. Though TMZ has fewer details about the Oct. 4 incident, they report that it was yet another domestic disturbance and that no arrests were made.

Scottie filed to divorce his longtime love and the mother of his four children on Oct. 18.

"Scottie and Larsa have been separated for quite some time living separate lives," a source told E! News of the surprise breakup. "Scottie has been residing in Chicago where his businesses are while Larsa has been living in Miami full time raising their children."

E!'s source also commented on rumors that Larsa's relationship with Future caused problems in her marriage, insisting that the former reality TV star and the rapper are "just friends."

"After careful consideration and 19 years together, Larsa and Scottie have each filed for dissolution of their marriage," a representative for the mother of four said in a statement. "Although they are no longer to be married, Larsa remains hopeful that she and Scottie will always do what is best for their 4 beautiful children and jointly raise them with love and respect. She would like to thank everyone for their understanding and kindly ask for privacy from the media during this difficult time of transition for her family."

A rep for Scottie echoed the sentiments in a statement for the NBA alum: "This is a very difficult time for Mr. Pippen. He is hopeful that the divorce will be swift and amicable. We are respecting his request to protect his privacy and the privacy of his children during the dissolution of marriage proceedings."

Hopefully the divorce proceedings go more smoothly than the last month of the couple's marriage!
