It's always a great day to be Oprah Winfrey, but Jan. 26 was even greater than usual!
After posting just one tweet -- a video about her journey with Weight Watchers -- on Twitter, the mogul made a whopping $12 million! For those wondering, the million dollar video was about Oprah eating bread every day. She tweeted along with the clip, "Eat bread. Lose weight. Whaaatttt? #ComeJoinMe," and her 30.9 million followers listened!
MarketWatch is reporting that the Jan. 26 tweet resulted in Weight Watchers' shares increasing more than 16 percent. Since Oprah owns around 6 million shares of the company, that resulted in a net of $12 million dollars for the dynamo.
Oprah joined Weight Watchers in August 2015, and started speaking openly about her partnership with the company in October. She also purchased around 10 percent of their stock, showing just how much the former talk show host practiced what she preached.
In the tweeted video, Oprah shares that she has already lost 26 pounds, and professes her love for bread. "This is the joy for me. I love bread! I love bread. I now just manage it. I don't deny myself bread, I have bread every day," the passionate Weight Watchers spokesperson exclaims.
It's clear why her millions of followers want to join her, since the program is clearly working for the billionaire. Back in October she visited "The Ellen Degeneres Show" and announced she'd lost 15 pounds in her first two months of the program. Looks like Oprah is on track to continue to lose pounds and gain money. Talk about a win-win situation!
