When Joey Feek, of the husband and wife duo Joey+Rory, was diagnosed with terminally ill cancer in late 2015, she didn't know if she'd be able to make it to any the big milestones she and her family are coming upon these days, especially this year's Grammy Awards.

"Fortunately, Joey has made it this far to be able to watch the show Joey+Rory earned a Grammy nomination for Best Country Duo/Group performance," her husband wrote on his blog "This is the Life I Live" on Feb. 12.

(Despite the Grammy nomination, Joey+Rory ultimately lost out to Little Big Town in the category).

And while she's blessed to have made it this far, Rory refuses to go to the awards on Feb. 15 in Los Angeles without his wife, despite the fact that she insistently bought him a plane ticket from where they're currently living in Indiana. Instead, Rory's two older daughters Heidi and Hope, from a previous relationship, will be going to represent the couple.

"Joey tried to talk me into going with them… many, many times," he wrote. "She even had a Southwest ticket purchased for me that I canceled. I can't leave her. I won't. I have done many foolish things and made lots of mistakes in my life, but this isn't going to be one of them."

So how will the loving couple spend the evening of the big show?

"Instead, I will be sitting beside [Joey] and cheering on Little Big Town, and Blake Shelton and Charles and all the talented folks who are nominated in our category and others. It's an honor for us to just be a part of that night, it truly is," Rory added.

In 2014, the couple welcomed a daughter together. But not long after Joey was diagnosed with stage IV cervical cancer.
