It was just over a month ago on Aug. 30, that Selena Gomez announced she would be taking a break to deal with some of the side effects she was experiencing secondary to lupus. But, the 24-year-old songstress was spotted out and about for the first time in Alcoa, Tennessee, on Oct. 8, and seemed to be doing well.

The "Hands to Myself" singer was relaxing with her family and enjoying a late lunch at a local restaurant. She was dressed super low key, in a tee and a a New York Yankees baseball cap.

"Check that it was @selenagomez 😅," a fan posted alongside a selfie with the star mid-meal.

"She seemed really well," another eyewitness told Us Weekly after encountering Selena. "I told her I hoped she was doing well and having a good break and that I was proud of her for taking time for herself. She was so appreciative and we talked for a while! She was at a restaurant with her family and she said she appreciated my words."

Back in August, just after wrapping her Revival World Tour, Selena made a statement regarding her choice to step away from the limelight for a little while.

"As many of you know, around a year ago I revealed that I have lupus, an illness that can affect people in different ways," she explained. "I've discovered that anxiety, panic attacks and depression can be side effects of lupus, which can present their own challenges."

"I want to be proactive and focus on maintaining my health and happiness and have decided that the best way forward is to take some time off," she continued. "Thank you to all my fans for your support. You know how special you are to me, but I need to face this head on to ensure I am doing everything possible to be my best."

Since being diagnosed with the chronic inflammatory disease three years ago, Selena has cited her lupus as a reason for taking a step back once before. She took a similar break during her Stars Dance Tour in 2013.

Get well soon!
