Como la flor, Selena will never go out of style!

Despite it being 21 years since Selena Quintanilla Perez's tragic passing in March 1995, the Mexican pop star continues to make a mark on fashion and beauty -- which is exactly the way she would have liked it.

The original pop culture Selena started singing at her parents' Tex-Mex restaurant at 9 years old and seemed destined for fame. After years of performing at county fairs and weddings, Selena was eventually signed by EMI Latin Records and skyrocketed to fame shortly after.

Throughout her impressive but tragically short career Selena always prioritized fashion, designing all of her own stylish costumes. Once it became clear that the masses wanted to emulate her chic bedazzled and high-waisted looks, Selena opened up two Texas-based boutiques. In doing so she was one of the first performers to parlay a music career into a fashion line, paving the way for the stars of today to follow.

As '90s fashion returns in 2016, it's easy to see that Selena's iconic style has returned. Her affinity for crop tops and high-waisted jeans paired with massive belt buckles was widely known (and recaptured on film when Jennifer Lopez portrayed her in the 1997 film "Selena"). And her other favorite items -- bolero jackets and bustiers -- have also made a major comeback as of late.

But it's another element of the late star's iconic style that's taking a front seat now -- her makeup.

MAC will be launching a Selena Makeup Collection on Oct. 1, in response to an online petition that circulated around Selena's birthday in April 2015. The makeup brand answered the call, and developed this limited collection, which includes three lipsticks, five eyeshadows, a mascara, liquid eyeliner and blush compact that all promise to channel the superstar's most famous looks.

Selena, who always did her own makeup, would most certainly be proud of the product, with lipsticks named after her hit songs like "Amor Prohibido," "Como La Flor" and "Dreaming of You." Instead of MAC's signature black packaging, the Selena Collection will come in a deep purple, reminiscent of Selena's legendary purple look at her final concert at Houston's Astrodome.

Now that the products are about to hit shelves, there is one person in particular who has given the line her seal of approval -- Selena's sister, Suzette Quintanilla Arriaga.

"I'm so excited and Selena would be so excited, it feels so right," Suzette said of the collection. "It feels perfect."
