Britney Spears is vowing to pull back the reins on her social media.
The declaration came after a judge shot down her request to move up a hearing pertaining to her conservatorship.
On Monday, the pop star posted a cooking video, but she delved into her legal situation in her caption. "In a system where I've felt completely hopeless for so long, at least I do have a platform to share !!!!," she wrote. "As Selena Gomez says it best – The world can be a nasty place … I know it … you know it … kill them with kindness!!!"
Britney added, "Unfortunately the news has been pretty nasty saying horrible and mean lies about me so I'm gonna post a little less from now on."
On Aug. 9, Britney also posted a video of a man displaying a "Free Britney" flag.
"Geez look at that flag !!!! I was like 'My flag up over the American Flag !?!?' … Yes … I'm tooting my own horn .. is that bad ?????," she wondered.
In addressing her Instagram followers, Britney said her fans "only know half" of the situation regarding her conservatorship.
"And for a lot of you who say I should be cautious with what I post … I mean if you REALLY THINK ABOUT IT … with what I've been through I believe I been WAAAY TOO CAUTIOUS !!!!," she said. "One day I will live on the edge !!!! One day."
Britney's message came on a day when she and her team took a legal loss. Last week, Brit's lawyer said her father Jamie Spears' presence was taking a toll on her mental health, and asked that a hearing about his potential ouster from the conservatorship be moved up to this month. Her team gave an alternative that asked for the court to temporarily suspend Jamie from the conservatorship until the hearing. TMZ reported on Aug. 9 that a judge denied the requests.
Britney and her team can re-file the motion.
