Britney Spears is feeling all sorts of flushed after accidentally locking herself in a bathroom this morning.
The pop star detailed the bizarre and humorous incident on Instagram on Aug. 3, noting that it all started when she decided to take a bath at 2 a.m. to help her sleep.
"I went to the bathroom and looked at my leftover coffee from earlier in the morning and said 'gross' but didn't throw it away and then I looked for my face wash but couldn't find it anywhere!!!!," she said. "I was caught up in my head looking for it for about 15 minutes and then realized it's probably in the other bathroom … then I went to leave and the door was locked."
The lock, it seems, was stuck. Meanwhile, her boyfriend Sam Asghari was snoozing away and didn't hear Britney shouting for him to open the door from his side. After eventually waking up, Sam tried to get the door open, but to no avail (he apparently tried to use a pen to open it).
Britney wrote, "I got my phone and called security to tell them to open the door … 15 minutes went by and they finally said they'd send someone up to open the door … 10 minutes later …. 'HELLO ??? Is anybody there???' … then they told me 10 more minutes !!! I cleaned the bathroom and thought about taking a shower or something."
The "Toxic" singer said she began willing the door to open, hilariously saying she saw the wooden obstruction "with clarity and brightness." Although her door intervention didn't work, security soon showed up.
"The old coffee I had left over from the morning was there … I started feeling foggy so I drank it," she said. "I was reenergized and started speaking again!!! 'Are you guys there ???' … 'Yes we are!' They said, 'Stand back, we're going to open the door!' It opened … it finally opened !!!!!"
Naturally, many of Britneys' Instagram followers felt that the incident was a metaphor for her life, likening the bathroom to the conservatorship that's guided her life for the past 13 years. She's been making big steps to end the conservatorship and free herself (like she did in the bathroom).
Arguably the best comment in regard to Britney's early morning bathroom fiasco came via Miley Cyrus, who wrote, "They Free'd Britney for real!"
