Meghan Markle — who continues to use her Duchess of Sussex title professionally — is being called out for trying to stay close to the royal family.

In the first season of With Love, Meghan, Meghan corrected Mindy Kaling for using her maiden name, but she failed to clarify whether she goes by "Meghan Sussex" or "Meghan, Duchess of Sussex."

"It's our shared name as a family, and I guess I hadn't recognized how meaningful that would be to me until we had children," Meghan told People while promoting the premiere of her cooking show, which featured the awkward moment with Kaling. "I love that that is something that Archie, Lili, H and I all have together. It means a lot to me."

"I think as the kids get older, they're so excited about, 'Oh my gosh, Mama and Papa, how did you meet?' I think that will come with time as they get older, but for right now, a huge part of our love story is that we share the name Sussex," Meghan added.

In a separate interview, Meghan revealed her passport and legal identification lists "Meghan, Duchess of Sussex" as her legal name.

"But it's a complicated one for people to understand, because a last name is not typical in that construct," Meghan said on The Circuit, adding Sussex is "not" her last name, "but it's used roughly, or loosely, rather."

"It sounds so silly to say. And I get it, because I'm American, and then I went there, and I started to understand," Meghan explained. "But then you come back and as an American, you go, 'I'm so confused.'"

Trying to steal Kate's 'thunder'

According to royal expert Sara Vine, the timing of the preview for Meghan's special seems suspect.

"Some people have pointed out that it's perhaps not exactly a coincidence that this trailer has been released on the same evening that the Prince and Princess of Wales are appearing at the Royal Variety Show at the Royal Albert Hall," she wrote for DailyMail.com.

"I can't imagine what they are trying to imply. And besides, when has Meghan ever tried to steal her sister-in-law's thunder?" Vine sarcastically questioned.

Royal commentator Richard Fitzwilliams thinks the PDA between the Suits star and Prince Harry in the preview will catch people's attention.

"William and Kate attend the Royal Variety Performance tonight but they will probably find Harry and Meghan's kiss gets more coverage," he told Daily Express.

"The timing is execrable, and Harry's reported offer to share diaries hasn't got very far. The trouble is, when Meghan's festive show airs, he may be little more than an extra. He should beware, it may be a sign," the journalist said.

Meghan's holiday program is slated to land on Netflix on December 3, mere days before Kate hosts her annual "Royal Carols: Together at Christmas" service.

During an appearance on TalkTV, royal reporter Kinsey Schofield alleged the move was intentional.

"Meghan told the Fortune Most Powerful Women summit in Washington, D.C., that her holiday special was going to be released in November. And pushing it to December 3, I thought, was intentional because Kate has her annual Christmas event on December 5," she said.

Body language expert Judi James claimed Meghan seemed to be putting on a show in the preview for her special.

"This kiss looks like something of a 'box-ticking' exercise from a woman who is seen skipping through her garden, clapping and smiling into mixing bowls to signal how she channels the magic of Christmas in the most idealistic way," James told Daily Express.

"The body language looks stylized and performative and this kiss with Harry appears to be a gesture of reward and praise for the fact that he has accepted a cameo role in this Meghan video," James added.

While dishing with People about how to create the perfect Thanksgiving meal, Meghan admitted Harry has a significant condition for the menu.

"Didn't she say in the Oprah [Winfrey] interview that titles meant nothing to her?" a second said, referencing the mother of two and Prince Harry's 2021 bombshell interview.

"She really wants people to use that title to associate it with her and thinks the British royal family wouldn't be able to take it from her. She doesn't get that it doesn't belong to her, and they can take it if they want, doesn't matter if she styles herself with it or not," a third added.

Before Sarah Ferguson was embroiled in the Jeffrey Epstein scandal, she was securing six-figure paychecks.

According to royal biographer Andrew Lownie, World Online paid the author $350K for 20 days of work to be their 1999 spokesperson. World Online marketing director Rob van der Linden offered the mom of two the position, which included a $150,000 non-refundable advance to participate in the company's stock option plan.

Lownie wrote in a Stubstack post that Ferguson was able to use the company's private jet to travel around Europe, even getting to sit in first class. During her time with World Online, the famous redhead was reportedly given access to an assistant, security services, beauty treatments and a stylist.

While Ferguson's time as a royal and public figure once included lavish perks, her career opportunities are now dwindling. Ferguson previously denounced Epstein and his crimes, but her friendly email to the controversial figure caused many supporters to question her true intentions. Though the author has yet to speak out about the scandal, her team addressed why she chose to contact Epstein after his arrest.

As soon as she was aware of the extent of the allegations against him, she not only cut off contact but condemned him publicly, to the extent that he then threatened to sue her for defamation for associating him with pedophilia," a rep for Ferguson said in a statement. 

"She does not resile from anything she said then," the rep continued. "This email was sent in the context of advice the duchess was given to try to assuage Epstein and his threats."
