Zachery Ty Bryan, who was sentenced to 16 months in jail, was rearraigned after reaching a plea agreement with prosecutors that saw him pleading guilty to DUI and copping to an enhancement for driving with a blood alcohol concentration (BAC) of 0.15% or higher — nearly twice the legal limit of 0.08.The former child star has two prior DUI convictions, which could result in even harsher penalties if a fourth offense occurs.

The judge seemingly showed no leniency, denying probation and sentencing Zachery Ty Bryan to nearly a year and a half in county jail, with credit for 57 days already served. But his legal troubles are far from over. Once his jail term ends, Bryan will still have to address out-of-county warrants for a probation violation tied to a July 2023 domestic violence conviction.

Zachery Ty Bryan's latest sentence adds to a long history of legal troubles he has faced over the past few years. In 2020, he was charged with felony strangulation, fourth-degree assault and interfering with a police report following a dispute with his fiancée, Johnnie Faye Cartwright. He pleaded guilty to two misdemeanor domestic violence charges, served seven days in jail and received 36 months of probation.
Following the July 2023 domestic violence charges, Bryan was arrested twice in 2024 for DUI-related incidents — first in California that February and then eight months later in Oklahoma, where he was charged with one count of driving under the influence and one count of driving with a canceled, suspended or revoked license.
Just months later in January 2025, Bryan was arrested in South Carolina on second-degree domestic violence charges. According to a police report, he "choked" Cartwright and "punched her in the face."
