While appearing on
Daily Mail's "
Palace Confidential" podcast, former royal protection officer
Dai Davies claimed Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor has always been one to spill sensitive information. "[Andrew] was known as a blabbermouth, and interestingly,
Edward VIII, his uncle, was also known as a blabbermouth because he spoke freely to journalists," he said. "He couldn't be trusted either, but this has been allowed to fester until we've now reached this stage."

Oversharing came back to haunt Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor, who was arrested on suspicion of misconduct in a public office for allegedly giving information to Jeffrey Epstein. "Following a thorough assessment, we have now opened an investigation into this allegation of misconduct in public office," Assistant Chief Constable Oliver Wright confirmed in a statement. "It is important that we protect the integrity and objectivity of our investigation as we work with our partners to investigate this alleged offense. We understand the significant public interest in this case and we will provide updates at the appropriate time."

The U.S. Department of Justice released additional information about Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor's connection to Jeffrey Epstein. According to documents obtained by the
BBC, the 66-year-old sent confidential information regarding his work as a U.K. trade envoy to a criminal in 2010 and 2011.

It reportedly wasn't only Jeffrey Epstein to whom Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor told his secrets. According to a 2019 email obtained by
Daily Mail,
King Charles III was made aware of the former Duke of York's shady business dealings with controversial millionaire
David Rowland. "HRH the Duke of York's actions suggest that his Royal Highness considers his relationship with David Rowland more important than that of his family," the message read. In a second message sent to His Majesty's secretary
Clive Alderton,
Queen Elizabeth II's solicitor at Farrer & Co., and Rowland, the anonymous person wrote: "The evidence provided unequivocally proves that you have abused the royal family's name."
