In a message sent by Jeffrey Epstein to Sarah Ferguson on March 7, 2010, the financier asked the former Duchess of York for a favor involving Princess Beatrice and Princess Eugenie. "Sarah, could you are [sic] one of your daughters show [redacted] Buckingham thanks," he wrote in a message released by the U.S. Department of Justice via
Daily Express.

According to
Daily Mail's Diary Editor
Richard Eden, Sarah Ferguson "sealed the Princesses' [Beatrice and Eugenie] fate" with The Firm in that one message. "Take a moment to consider that email: after a s** offender had been released from prison, having served a sentence for procuring a child for prostitution, he was confident enough in his relationship with
Queen Elizabeth II's former daughter-in-law [Sarah] that he could ask her to send one of the monarch's grandchildren to show his friend around the sovereign's taxpayer-funded home," he told the publication.

The wording of Jeffrey Epstein's email hints that the request wasn't out of the ordinary. "The casual tone of the email suggests this was not a unique demand," Richard Eden said. "Indeed, a message sent to him by the then duchess [Sarah Ferguson] later that year apologized that the princesses [Beatrice and Eugenie] could not serve as tour guides for a different pal of his. It's not known if the friends were also s** offenders."

With both Sarah Ferguson and Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor — who was arrested on suspicion of misconduct in public office — plagued by scandal, Princess Beatrice and Princess Eugenie's days in the royal inner circle could be numbered. "The princesses can go on to show by their actions that they have not taken after their parents, but, unfortunately, Andrew and Fergie have left such a stain on the monarchy that they are tainted, too," Richard Eden said.

Richard Eden believes
Prince William will clear house with any trace of scandal when he takes over for
King Charles III. "
Prince William and
Kate Middleton know this, which is why Sarah [Ferguson] was not invited to their wedding at Westminster Abbey in 2011. And why her daughters [Princess Beatrice and Princess Eugenie] will have no royal roles when William is King," he said.
