Mckenna Grace is set to star as a young Daphne Blake on the upcoming series, giving fans a glimpse at the early days of Mystery Inc.In March 2025, Netflix greenlit eight episodes of the show, which the official logline describes as a modern take on the classic cartoon.
"During their final summer at camp, old friends Shaggy and Daphne get embroiled in a haunting mystery surrounding a lonely lost Great Dane puppy that may have been a witness to a supernatural murder," the logline reads.
"Together with the pragmatic and scientific townie Velma and the strange but ever so handsome new kid Freddy, they set out to solve the case that is pulling each of them into a creepy nightmare that threatens to expose all of their secrets," it continues.
While Grace is the only cast member confirmed so far, additional casting news is expected in the coming months.

This isn't the first time Mckenna Grace has portrayed Daphne Blake — she previously voiced the young version of the character in the 2020 animated movie Scoob!.Grace was slated to return as Daphne in the prequel Scoob! Holiday Haunt, but Warner Bros. Discovery canceled the project amid budget cuts.
She has also played younger versions of main characters in series such as Chilling Adventures of Sabrina and Once Upon a Time and in films like Captain Marvel and I, Tonya.

Netflix's live-action Scooby-Doo series comes more than two decades after a live-action film debuted in 2002 starring Freddie Prinze Jr., Sarah Michelle Gellar, Matthew Lillard and Linda Cardellini, with Neil Fanning as the voice of Scooby-Doo.The film was a box office hit, earning more than $250 million worldwide. Its sequel, Scooby-Doo: Monsters Unleashed, followed in 2004 with the same cast and brought in more than $180 million.
The franchise also generated the 2009 live-action made-for-TV movie Scooby-Doo! The Mystery Begins and its 2010 sequel.
