While Miranda Priestly never seems to take off her heels, Meryl Streep was happy to do so once filming wrapped."As a person holding her position for 20 years, she kept her look but adapted it, as we do with time," Streep, 76, told Vogue about her character's wardrobe for the 2026 sequel.
"But I almost had PTSD from wearing high heels for 16 weeks. I feel like I should get a Medal of Freedom!" she joked.
Despite the heels' toll, Streep still enjoyed returning to Priestly's beloved wardrobe.
"It was like going into the back of your own closet and finding something, thinking, 'Oh, I wonder if this still fits?'" she said.
Stanley Tucci, who plays Nigel Kipling, agreed, chiming in, "Especially in this film, the costumes are so integral to the character."

Much of what makes The Devil Wears Prada wardrobe iconic comes from costume designer Molly Rogers' careful curation of designs inspired by the runway."We have a really great roadmap — I love the first movie's clothes because they're timeless. You don't see 'look 14,' or whatever," she told Vogue.
"I wanted to do that, while making sure the clothing had a broad horizon," she added.
In the first film, Miranda Priestly's wardrobe goes beyond Prada, showcasing pieces from Chanel, Gucci, Yves Saint Laurent and other luxury designers.
With that in mind, the odds of seeing even more high-fashion labels in the sequel are high.

Even Anne Hathaway couldn't help feeling transported back to the original film on set — all thanks to Meryl Streep … and the view of her from behind."Meryl, as Miranda, had started down the hallway ahead of me — I was maybe 50 feet behind her — and seeing her from the back was practically psychedelic," Hathaway, 43, who plays Andy Sachs, told Vogue.
"I just felt so many portals open up at that moment. I was 22 again, but it was still now. Thankfully, this time, she didn't stay in character the entire time, so we had a lot of laughs," she added.
Fans eager to see the two stars reunited won't have to wait much longer: The film opens in theaters on May 1.
