Lili Reinhart is owning her body and her image, regardless of what her critics have to say.
In the new issue of DuJour, the "Riverdale" actress spoke candidly about her body acceptance, saying she's "never going to have abs" and she's okay with that. Instead, she'd rather live her life the way she wants.
"Abs are made in the kitchen, and I had Dairy Queen and chicken parm last night. And that's okay. I'm learning to accept that in myself," she said. "I'm not a fitness model. I'm never going to be able to maintain that. I'm not going to not eat the ice cream."
The 24-year-old isn't shy about sharing images on Instagram that highlight her body. While the vast majority of her fans are supportive and enviable of her curves, the haters are still there.
"It's not amazing to see someone on Instagram calling me fat, but people are never going to stop body-shaming," she says. "It's a matter of what I can do to make myself feel better about that. My body is a journey that I have with myself."
While Lili has long been confident, she also an open book willing to speak about struggles. Last month she detailed her "exhausting battle" with depression. She also addressed those who suffer from OCD, as she does.
"You don't need to justify your mental health to anyone. Prioritize yourself when needed, take time to rest. Surround yourself with good people and high vibrations," she wrote.
In talking to DuJour, she noted how much she changed since the coronavirus pandemic shut the world down, saying she "definitely not the same person I was when I had to flee Canada [in March 2020.]"
"My focus has been on myself, looking inward and trying to grow. I've been working on taking the pressure off myself, and stress doesn't affect me as much," she said. "I think I had too much time on my hands. I'm single, so I'm very zeroed in on me right now. I'm still not 100 percent confident in who I am as a writer. People tell me they really relate to the poetry, and that's all I could ask for."
