"Vanderpump Rules" star Scheana Marie Shay filed for divorce from her husband, Mike Shay, three weeks after it was reported that he went "missing" and drained their checking account.
At that time, Scheana Marie was reportedly thinking about pulling the plug on her marriage more than two years after tying the knot.
In a statement to Us Weekly, the couple said, "While we have made the difficult decision to move forward separately, our story will continue on through the love and mutual respect that we have cultivated throughout our 15-year friendship."
It continued, "Much of the recent speculation and reporting on our relationship has been misguided, and we have come to an amicable decision on all matters. We might have failed at our marriage, but we are committed to succeeding as friends and will continue to support each other's personal happiness and professional success."
The filing comes after a very rough patch for the couple. In early November, TMZ reported that Mike didn't come home one night. After Mike went MIA, Scheana cut off his credit cards. However, according to the website, two days later, the couple's checking account was completely cleared out and she suspected that her husband was the culprit.
A few days later Mike countered reports that he was "missing," posting what was the equivalent to a proof-of-life image to Instagram.
"I am not missing. I am sober. I am Happy!!!," he captioned a photo of himself reading the daily newspaper. "Don't believe everything you read. I love my wife and will always love my wife. Whatever is going on between us will stay between us! I love my family and my family loves me and a lot of things have been said out is protection and anger by many people. [I'm] just ready for the next chapter in my life!"
TMZ reported that Scheana Marie feared her husband may have fallen off the wagon after nearly a year of sobriety following a well-documented addiction to painkillers.
