In the story published on Tuesday, April 29, Bill Maher made it clear he does not support Donald Trump's second presidency."In a word: s***show. I said after he won the election, I'm not going to pre-hate anything," the comedian explained. "But after 100 days, there are probably 100 things to legitimately hate, starting with disappearing people, the inefficiency of DOGE, ignoring the Supreme Court, killing people overseas with drastic aid cuts, firing the guy in charge of his election-integrity office because he won't say 2020 was rigged, tariff-related market collapse, America no longer being seen as a safe place, the third-term talk, suing the media, Andrew Tate."
Maher added how his opinion doesn't stem from partisan loyalty. "I want to emphasize: None of my disapproval for any of this comes from reflexive Republican opposition. On all these issues, it's just objectively bad. And they know that, too," he added.

Bill Maher previously sang Donald Trump's praises after he visited him at the White House along with Kid Rock and UFC head Dana White."You can h*** me for it, but I'm not a liar. Trump was gracious and measured," the television personality revealed during the Friday, April 11, episode of Real Time. "And why isn't that in other settings — I don't know and I can't answer and it's not my place to answer. I'm just telling you what I saw, and I wasn't high."

Bill Maher even went on to say that he felt more at ease around Donald Trump than former presidents Bill Clinton and Barack Obama."I never felt I had to walk on eggshells around him," the stand-up star said during the Friday, April 11, episode of his late-night show about the right-wing leader. "And honestly, I voted for Clinton and Obama, but I would never feel comfortable talking to them the way I was able to talk with Donald Trump. That's just how it went down. Make of it what you will. Me? I feel it's emblematic of why the Democrats are so unpopular these days."

Donald Trump hasn't had the best opinion of Bill Maher but agreed to sit down with him at the request of Kid Rock."I really didn't like the idea much, and don't like it much now, but thought it would be interesting," the businessman said in a Truth Social update in March about the visit. "It might be fun or, it might not, but you will be the first to know!"
Despite being open to the idea, Trump predicted Maher would "publicly proclaim what a terrible guy I am" after their meeting.

Bill Maher also came down hard on people on the left."Once you start something, you get a certain amount of cult followers for anything and then the true believers never die," he said during an April 13 episode of his "Club Random" podcast. "I mean, a lot of people would say right now the Democratic Party is still in that mode, which is going to render them possibly an irrelevant party if they don't change."
