Pentagon representative Sean Parnell claimed the damage caused Iran a "one or two-year" setback in operations. However, it would likely be "closer to two." He explained during a press briefing, "Our assessment of the battle damage around Fordow, Natanz and Isfahan remains unchanged. We believe — and certainly all of the intelligence that we've seen has led us to believe — that those facilities, especially, have been completely obliterated. We have degraded their program by one to two years, at least. We're thinking probably closer to two years."

After reports surfaced that the damage caused by the airstrikes was not as impactful as Donald Trump made it out to be, the president claimed he would use federal investigators to go after the journalists who released the information. "They could find out easily. And you go up and tell the reporter, 'National security, who gave it?' You have to do that. And, I suspect we'll be doing things like that," Trump said during an interview with
Fox News'
Sunday Morning Futures. "They did obliterate [the nuclear sites], it turned out. We had to suffer the fake news with the fake news of CNN and the
New York Times, [which were] saying, 'Well, maybe it wasn't as good as Trump said. Maybe it wasn't totally obliterated.' It turned out, no, it was obliterated like nobody's ever seen before. And that meant the end to their nuclear ambitions, at least for a period of time."

Donald Trump even called for journalist Natasha Bertrand to be fired over her reporting that the attack set back Iran's nuclear operations by only a few months. "Natasha Bertrand should be FIRED from CNN!" the Republican leader wrote on Truth Social. "I watched her for three days doing Fake news. She should be IMMEDIATELY reprimanded and then thrown out 'like a dog.' She lied on the laptop from hell story and now she lied on the nuclear sites story, attempting to destroy our patriot pilots by making them look bad when, in fact, they did a GREAT job and hit 'pay dirt' — TOTAL OBLITERATION!"
