President Donald Trump added a striking new art piece to the Oval Office: a statue depicting the aftermath of the assassination attempt against him in July 2024.The statue, which was spotted on a side table next to Trump's Resolute Desk on Friday, May 9, captures a defining moment from the attack, a publication shared.
It shows Trump raising his fist defiantly in the air moments after being struck in the ear by a bullet fired by would-be assassin Thomas Matthew Crooks last July 13 during a rally in Butler, Pennsylvania.

Details of the Sculpture's Design
The sculpture, designed by artist Stan Watts, vividly recreates the iconic scene where Donald Trump, injured but resolute, shouts "Fight! Fight! Fight!" at the rallygoers at the Butler Farm Show Grounds. In the artwork, three Secret Service agents, including current agency director Sean Curran, are seen attempting to usher Trump offstage as he continues to rally support. Behind Trump, the American flag is displayed, mirroring its positioning during the actual event in Butler.
The piece is said to symbolize Trump's resilience.
The Trump Statue Project
The statue is part of the [Donald] Trump Statue Project, an initiative to raise funds for a 9-foot-tall bronze sculpture that will capture this dramatic moment in history.According to the Trump Statue Project website, the sculpture represents both "divine intervention" and "the man and his message of unity and resilience for which America stands."
The White House did not immediately provide details about the statue's commission or the artist's involvement, but it is believed that Watts is the artist behind this new addition to the Oval Office.
Other Artwork Commemorating the Assassination Attempt
The statue in the Oval Office is not the only artwork related to the Butler, Penn., assassination attempt displayed in the White House.Last month, a painting created by artist Marc Lipp was revealed in the Grand Foyer of the East Wing. The piece, an artistic interpretation of an iconic photograph taken by New York Times photographer Doug Mills, shows Trump with blood splattered on his face, raising his fist in the air in defiance after the shooting.
The American flag also prominently appears in the background of the painting, capturing the same theme of resilience and patriotism seen in the statue.
Trump's Personal Touch in the White House
Since taking office for his second term, President Donald Trump has made several personal adjustments to the West Wing, incorporating his signature style throughout the space. The Oval Office now features ornate, gold flourishes added to the furniture, fireplace and walls, reflecting the opulence of his Mar-a-Lago estate in Palm Beach, Florida.
In addition to the art pieces, the West Wing is adorned with front pages from the New York Post that document his political comeback, including the infamous issue displaying Trump's Georgia mugshot, which now hangs just outside the Oval Office.
These additions highlight Trump's effort to make the White House a more personal and symbolic space, reflecting his unique political journey.
