As Donald Trump continues to hold a hard line on immigration with people from certain regions, members of his administration have helped to carry out his staunch mentality. In response, California, Colorado, Connecticut, Delaware, Hawaii, Illinois, Maine, Massachusetts, Michigan, Minnesota, Nevada, New Jersey, New Mexico, New York, Oregon, Rhode Island, Washington, Wisconsin and Vermont are holding the politicians' feet to the fire.Per reports, Secretary of Homeland Security Kristi Noem and Transportation Secretary Sean Duffy have told certain states they will take away federal funding should they not comply with the strict orders. However, they have yet to take action on the alleged threat.

In April, numerous states were reportedly sent letters from the Department of Transportation, making it clear they must work with Donald Trump, Transportation Secretary Sean Duffy, Secretary of Homeland Security Kristi Noem and other staffers toward their immigration goals."If any government entity chooses to thumb its nose at the Department of Homeland Security's national security and public safety mission, it should not receive a single dollar of the Department's money unless Congress has specifically required it," the former governor of South Dakota said in the note.

During a Tuesday, May 13, press conference, California Attorney General Rob Bonta emphasized how dire it is to ensure that Donald Trump and members of his administration are not abusing their power and violating the constitution."President Donald Trump can't use these funds as a bargaining chip as his way of ensuring states abide by his preferred policies," the left-wing politician explained.
"I wish the administration would stop playing politics with people's lives," New Jersey Attorney General Matthew Platkin said in a statement. "I wish Secretary [Sean] Duffy would do his d*** job, which is to make sure planes land on time, not to direct immigration enforcement."
Illinois Attorney General Kwame Raoul pointed out how important it is that those funds are not cut off from the states. "This critical funding has nothing to do with immigration and the administration's attempts to hold it hostage unless states agree to do the federal government's job of civil immigration enforcement is unconstitutional and outrageous," he said.
"I am proud of the continued collaboration between state attorneys general and am committed to using all tools at our disposal to fight the Trump administration's ongoing attempts to play politics with Americans' lives," Raoul added.

While Donald Trump wants stricter laws for some people who are seeking safety in America, he recently sped up the process to grant a group of White South Africans asylum after he claimed they were fleeing from genocide."Because they're being killed and we don't want to see people be killed," the Republican leader gave as his reasoning during a Monday, May 12, press conference. "Now, South Africa leadership is coming to see me — I understand sometime next week — and we're supposed to have a G20 meeting there or something; but we're having a G20 meeting. I don't know how we can go unless that situation's taken care of. But it's a genocide that's taking place that you people don't want to write about, but it's a terrible thing that's taking place."
