Fun seemed to be sorely lacking during Katie Holmes' nearly six-year marriage to Tom Cruise. But more than a year after her lightning-fast divorce, with much of that time focused on work and 7-year-old daughter Suri, the actress seems to be wading back into the social scene. Last Saturday, she spent some quality time in the company of Jamie Foxx as they danced the night away at the 4th annual Apollo in the Hamptons bash.
Sporting a clingy black dress with a mesh bodice, Holmes was snapped linking arms with Foxx as they boogied down onstage to "Blurred Lines" and "Get Lucky," although they were hardly alone: Ellen DeGeneres and Colin Powell were also cutting their respective rugs nearby.
Still, the contact was enough to ignite rumors of a romance.
"Katie repeatedly grabbed Jamie's arm and generally looked happier than she has in ages," crows Radar Online, which claims they "did not hide their affection." Meanwhile, another outlet goes so far as to claim that the pair, who have known each other since Foxx starred with Cruise in 2004's "Collateral," have been quietly dating for a few months.
But Holmes' rep dismisses the hookup talk, telling Wonderwall, "They are old friends."
But did Foxx try for something more? "They danced, and after a hug he grabbed her butt and tried to seal the deal," asserts an Us Weekly spy. "She was flattered, but not interested."
Then again, perhaps Katie, 34, and Jamie, 45, simply bonded by trading stories about what it's like being on the receiving end of Cruise's creepily intense laugh.
Either way, Us says Holmes enjoyed her night out so much she was overheard telling a couple of girlfriends, "I haven't had such a good time in so long."
But is she still experiencing lingering scrutiny from her husband's inner circle? The London Daily Mail claims a security guard approached photographers stationed near the Cleveland set of her currently filming movie, "Miss Meadow," and asked if they were affiliated with the church of Scientology.
"When security knew we were only trying to take pictures, it definitely seemed to make a difference to how she and Suri are moving around," alleges a source. "Katie was previously being ushered straight into a vehicle and we hardly saw her, but now she seems less anxious."
Her rep, however, denies that her bodyguards are on the lookout for Scientology spies.
