Tongue-in-cheek late night wars came to cable on Monday night as Jennifer Lopez took over the monologue for George Lopez's TBS show, "Lopez Tonight."
The actress and singer opened her comedy routine by saying, "Welcome to 'Lopez Tonight,' where nobody gets fired, they just get replaced by a bigger star with the same last name."
She joked about the Conan O'Brien/Jay Leno late-night shake-up, saying, "Last week was the one-year anniversary of [Chesley] 'Sully' Sullenberger landing his plane safely in the Hudson. Remember that? And a bar in New York has named a cocktail after him. The drink is a Manhattan with a splash. ... It's such a big hit, now the same bartender's making a drink for Conan. It's called the 'Go Back to Manhattan.' It's a Manhattan with sour grapes and a knife in it."
She also joked, "NBC is thinking about changing the NBC peacock to a cougar, since they're trying to attract young people to an old host."
In the end, however, George came out to join her on stage, and he commented, "I guess that's what it feels like to be Conan."
