A movie in Blume! Long before Twilight's Stephenie Meyer saturated the young adult market with tales of vampires and werewolves, Judy Blume was the literary queen of teen angst, deftly exploring the trials and tribulations of the tween and teen set over the course of 20-odd novels, including Are You There God? It's Me Margaret and Forever. And now, for the first time, one of her books is finally coming to the big screen.
The film adaptation of her 1981 novel, Tiger Eyes, about a teenage girl who moves with her family from New Jersey to New Mexico after their father dies, hits theaters this June, and from the looks of the trailer, it's going to be quite the tearjerker — and a possible sleeper hit.
Willa Holland, 21, who is currently in Arrow but is perhaps best known for her role as Kaitlin Cooper, Marissa's rebellious younger sister on The O.C., stars in the lead role as Davey Wexler. Amy Jo Johnson, the former Felicity star, plays her mom. Blume herself, now 75, cowrote the script with her son Lawrence Blume, who also directed.
