Is Ryan Seacrest ready to say sayonara to Fox?

The TV personality, 37, announced Wednesday he's signed on to help host NBC's coverage of the London Olympics later this summer.

Seacrest--whose production company also provides NBC's sister network E! with popular programming--has hosted Fox's American Idol since 2002. (NBC's answer to Idol, The Voice, has consistently beat American Idol in the ratings game since its debut last year.)

News of Seacrest's new gig comes on the heels of speculation that the host is eyeing Matt Lauer's Today show job. Seacrest did his best to dispel those rumors during an appearance on the morning show, telling Lauer that while he's "looking forward" to pitching in with Olympics coverage, he's not quite ready to take over for the show's co-anchor.

"I see you doing this for as long as you want to," Seacrest assured Lauer. Lauer, for his part, made it clear that NBC is thrilled to have Seacrest on board--and that Seacrest could someday be a great addition to the long-running morning show. "[You] would be great at this job," Lauer told Seacrst, adding, "There is no tension here."
