Drama at 36,000 feet! Legendary singer Prince was rushed to the hospital early Friday morning after his jet made an emergency landing in Illinois following a concert in Atlanta.
There are conflicting reports about his health.
Sources told TMZ that Prince's private plane made an unscheduled landing at Quad City International Airport in rural Moline around 1 am.
Prince was immediately transported by ambulance to a nearby hospital, but it's not known exactly what he is suffering from or why the medical emergency.
It's also unclear if the 57-year-old still remains in the hospital. The website quotes one source who says the singer is still in the hospital and "not doing well."
A second source said the exact opposite, claiming Prince has been released and is doing better.
Apparently the plane had not been up in the air too long when he was forced to touch down.
Before the emergency, the "Purple Rain" singer has just finished the second of two sold out shows in the same evening in the city's imitate Fox Theater showroom.
He had previously postponed the Atlanta show due to the flu. In its review, the Atlanta Journal Constitution said the singer apologized for the postponement and that it was "apparent when he talked" that the had been ill. His walking was also aided with a cane.
"For many, Prince is indeed a musical religion, and at the first of his two sold-out Atlanta concerts Thursday night, he took his disciples to church with a set that resonated intensely," the review said, adding that when he sang it was "sublime."
The tour was billed as the "Piano & A Microphone" tour, and that's exactly what the crowd saw, a no-frills performance featuring Prince tickling the ivories and singing his hits.
He has not updated his "Princestagram" social media page to detail his condition.
