Phil Dunster, who portrayed Jamie Tartt, will no longer be a series regular on soccer show
Ted Lasso due to a scheduling conflict after the actor signed on to join a comedy show with
Steve Carell for HBO. The Emmy nominee is set to star on a currently untitled series "set on a college campus, centering on an author's complicated relationship with his daughter," according to
Variety. It's unclear who he'll portray on the show, which is comprised of 10 half-hour episodes.

While Phil Dunster won't be a series regular, he could participate in the show in a "limited capacity." Fans of Ted Lasso were disappointed by the news. "This isn't funny anymore I need Phil Dunster to get his [beautiful] a** on that set," a fan wrote on X after reading the announcement. "Get Phil Dunster on that set immediately or I'm going to be sick," another fan wrote.

Phil Dunster isn't expected to star on season 4 of Ted Lasso, but Jason Sudeikis, Hannah Waddingham, Juno Temple, Brett Goldstein, Jeremy Swift and Brendan Hunt will all appear on the upcoming episodes.

In Phil Dunster's absence, Ted Lasso is bringing on newcomers Tanya Reynolds, Jude Mack, Faye Marsay, Rex Hayes, Aisling Sharkey, Abbie Hern and Grant Feely for season 4. Feely is replacing Gus Turner as Ted Lasso's son, Henry.

The third season of Ted Lasso aired in 2023. Two years later, Apple TV+ announced there will be more to the beloved coach's journey. In the upcoming season, Jason Sudeikis' Ted Lasso will take on coaching women's soccer. "Ted returns to Richmond, taking on his biggest challenge yet: coaching a second division women's football team," the official logline reads. "Throughout the course of the season, Ted and the team learn to leap before they look, taking chances they never thought they would."
