The blonde is back -- sort of! Hugh Hefner's wife Crystal Hefner (nee Harris) darkened her golden tresses with brunette ombre highlights on New Year's Day -- and the mogul, it turns out, had some gripes with the new shade! "He gave me a hard time at first!" Hef's third wife told Us Weekly while celebrating Playboy's 60th anniversary at the Mansion in Holmby Hills, Calif.
"I came home and said, 'Hef, how do you like my hair?'" the 27-year-old stunner recalled of when she first revealed her new hue to the 87-year-old CEO. "And he said, 'When's it going back blonde?'" she told Us with a laugh.
While the Playmate of the Year at first flaunted her edgier and darker tresses, Crystal ultimately compromised the color after telling Us, "I may go a tiny bit lighter as it grows out." Last weekend, she shared an Instagram selfie with blonder locks and wrote, "Added highlights to my new ombré hair… thank you to my very talented friend @guy_tang for my hair transformation!"
The couple recently marked their first wedding anniversary on Dec. 31 -- with Charlie, their beloved Cavalier King Charles Spaniel, and new puppy Lady (also the same breed). "We celebrated at the house, because we have the New Years' party and we got married last New Year's Eve!" she told Us. "I had to be up at 4 AM the next day for the Rose Bowl parade so we didn't go too crazy. Hef and I just hung out with our friends - and it was mellow."
There were sweet displays of affection, privately, between the two. "He gave me two dozen roses and a really sweet card," she shared. Crystal, in return, crafted a thoughtful present for her hubby on their special day: "I made him a scrapbook of our first year of marriage for a gift," she shared. "I went to Michael's [Arts & Crafts] and got all the stuff for it."
"He loved it," added the model. "He's the best."
