Elmo's X account was taken over by a hacker. The social media handle of the beloved
Sesame Street muppet alarmed the public when it began sharing horrific antisemitic messages and making disparaging statements about
Donald Trump.

Social media users began to notice Elmo's
X account was sharing links to cryptocurrency scams. The strange updates continued with "Elmo" posting threatening messages about Jewish people including that they "need to be exterminated." Elmo's account also went after Donald Trump, calling him Israeli Prime Minister
Benjamin Netanyahu's "puppet" and telling him to release the late s** offender
Jeffrey Epstein's client list. "He is in the Epstein files," Elmo wrote of Trump.

The people who run Elmo's X account worked quickly to scrub the messages and address the situation. "Elmo's X account was briefly compromised yesterday by an unknown hacker who posted disgusting messages, including antisemitic and racist posts," a spokesperson for Sesame Workshop explained in a statement. "The account has since been secured."

Many social media users seemed equally scared and amused by the anonymous hacker taking over Elmo's X account. "They hacked Elmo on a Sunday morning. Y'all know that violate the truce,"

Roy Wood Jr. wrote. "The world gotta be getting eviler for someone to be heartless enough to hack Elmo," another X user wrote. "Hacking Elmo's page instead of doing something useful like shutting down Grok is why I be fed up," a third X user pointed out, referencing Elon Musk's AI chatbot on X, which recently underwent
its own antisemitism scandal.
