Has the magic finally faded for good between Rihanna and Drake?

Over the summer, Drake and Rihanna's longtime friendship heated up again quite publicly, with Rihanna crossing oceans to join her man onstage in his hometown and Drake telling the world he's been in love with Rihanna since the age of 22. But multiple sources tell Us Weekly the pair have called it quits again.

While one insider says Rihanna "doesn't want to be held down," another assures the tab Drake and RiRi "will always be close," but the timing may not be right at the moment.

"If they end up together, it could happen," says the source, "but not now."

People, meanwhile, insists they're still an item, "but it's an open thing," according to an insider.

If their romantic history is any indication, there's certainly still hope Drake and Rihanna could work it out. They met back in 2005 in Toronto when Rihanna was shooting a video for "Pon de Replay."

"I was introduced to her as the kid who played background music at the restaurant as people ate their dinner," Drake recalled at the MTV VMAs in August. In 2009, the then-pals were reportedly spotted making out at the Lucky Strike Bowling Alley in New York, a moment Drake seemed to recount the following year on "Fireworks." "Who could have predicted Lucky Strike would have you stuck with me," he sang. "I'll never forget it, baby, what an experience, you could have been the one."

In subsequent interviews, Rihanna distanced herself from romance rumors about Drake, saying they were just good friends. Drake, meanwhile, lamented to the New York Times that Rihanna had left him out in the cold.

"I definitely was attracted to Drake, but I think it is what it is — it was what it was … We didn't want to take it any further," she told Angie Martinez (via Vulture) in 2010.

"It was at a really fragile time in my life, so I just didn't want to get too serious with anything or anyone at that time," she said.

But then things got confusing again, at least for those of us watching the two from afar. They shared multiple passionate performances together over the course of the next few years. In May, they were alleged to have been "secretly dating" for months. Finally, this summer, as their tours intersected, they became regulars on one another's social media accounts, mostly recently with Rihanna showing off a camo shark she had tattooed on her ankle as an ode to a stuffed animal Drake gave her on a date.

Two days ago, she had a message via Instagram for her former flames: "None of my exs are married or in happy relationships so it's safe to say that I wasn't da problem lol."

These days, however, it looks like a woman named India Love is on the receiving end of Drake's inspirational gifts.

Speaking to E! News, a source said this week, "Drake and India Love have been hooking up for at least a few weeks."
