CNN's ratings are on the rise due to the ongoing

According to Nielsen figures, since Friday, June 6, viewership for the left-leaning cable news network has been up significantly as citizens of Los Angeles clash with troops
Donald Trump deployed to arrest illegal immigrants in tension-filled encounters.

According to Nielsen,
CNN's viewership jumped 765,000 viewers from Friday through Tuesday, June 10. Demo viewership in primetime also saw a 109% rise.
Among adults 25-49, the Democratic-leaning channel saw 142,000 viewers from 68,000 demo viewers the previous week.
The boost was also helped by the live broadcast of
George Clooney's Broadway play
Good Night, and Good Luck on Saturday, June 7, that drew 7.34 million viewers globally.
Despite the grim reasoning for the leap in numbers, the rise comes after the channel slumped in viewership after Donald Trump's 2024 election victory.

Fox News also experienced a small rise in ratings amid the ICE protests. In comparison, the right-wing cable network saw 2.32 million nightly viewers from Friday through Tuesday.
MSNBC rose in viewership by 12%, grabbing 906,000 people (up from 809,000 the week before).
CNN got the biggest boost among its competitors but came in third place behind Fox (1.48 million) and MSNBC (571,000).

As Immigration and Customs Enforcement operations continue in Los Angeles, Mayor Karen Bass issued a curfew from 8 p.m. Thursday, June 12 to 6 a.m. Friday, June 13.
"We have had to have a curfew in the city because we want to make sure that the downtown neighborhood and all the other neighborhoods are safe," she said during a press conference. "But let me be very clear, we want peace to come to our city. The peace that we need to have happen needs to begin in Washington and we need to stop the raids."
