Princess Anne made a secret trip to Ukraine to meet with
President Volodymyr Zelensky and pay her respects to the children affected by the country's ongoing war with Russia.

During Princess Anne's time in Ukraine, she chose to highlight "the traumatic experiences of children living on the frontline of the conflict."

Princess Anne met with female police officers and Armed Forces representatives in Kyiv to hear how they're working to protect the women and children impacted by the ongoing conflict.

While at the Child Rights Protection Center, Princess Anne was able to speak with families who had returned and reintegrated.
The Princess Royal also made a trip to the Rehabilitation Center, where she met with veterans returning from the frontlines. Many of the service personnel who met with the princess had injuries and conflict-related trauma.

Princess Anne isn't the only royal family member who visited the European country, as
Prince Harry stopped there before returning home to California from the U.K.
"We cannot stop the war, but what we can do is do everything we can to help the recovery process," Harry told
The Guardian.

"We can continue to humanize the people involved in this war and what they are going through,"
Prince Harry, who is committed to veteran advocacy work, stressed. "We have to keep it at the forefront of people's minds. I hope this trip will help to bring it home to people because it's easy to become desensitised to what has been going on."
