17. The Life of Chuck (in theaters June 6)
Told in three lengthy chapters, The Life of Chuck, stars Tom Hiddleston in the Stephen King adaptation. The story goes backward in the life of one ordinary man and shows how he experiences life, love and loss. Although a somewhat interesting story, the narrative is lackluster coming from the "King of Horror."16. Bride Hard (in theaters June 20)
The action-packed comedy Bride Hard, starring Pitch Perfect costars Rebel Wilson and Anna Camp, as well as Anna Chlumsky, Da'Vine Joy Randolph, Gigi Zumbado, Stephen Dorff and Justin Hartley, will definitely get you laughing. However, the story centered around a secret agent (Wilson) who serves as the maid of honor at the wedding of her longtime best friend (Camp) seems to be a template of early 2010 films rather than innovative hilarity.15. Sovereign (in theaters June 11)
Actors Dennis Quaid, Nick Offerman and Jacob Tremblay star as anti-government extremists on the run from police in Sovereign. The high-stakes drama of the film will keep you engaged. However, the very real consequences of the story may hit too close to home in our current political climate.14. Predator: Killer of Killers (streaming on Hulu June 6)
The science fiction anthology film Predator: Killer of Killers is the sixth film and eighth installment overall in the Predator franchise and available to stream from the comfort of your own home. While the animation and action sequences are thrilling, some may find it difficult to follow the wide-ranging tale about a Viking raider, a ninja and a World War II pilot when they encounter an intergalactic hunter.13. The Ritual (in theaters June 6)
Al Pacino, Dan Stevens, Theophilus Riesinger and Twilight alum Ashley Greene star in the David Midell-directed horror film, which centers on two priests (Stevens and Riesinger) who come together to save an allegedly possessed young woman in 1928. Although an exorcism tale is always a wild ride, this scary movie isn't as extreme as one may think.12. Sorry, Baby (in theaters June 27)
The Sundance Film Festival hit Sorry, Baby is a haunting black comedy written, directed and starring Eva Victor. The deeply moving film centers around a graduate student trying to recover and deal with the trauma of her assault.11. Everything's Going to Be Great (in theaters June 20)
Acting powerhouses Bryan Cranston and Allison Janney star in the family drama Everything's Going to Be Great. The unique story focuses on two regional theater actors balancing their careers and trying to raise their two vastly different sons.10. I Don't Understand You (in theaters June 6)
I Don't Understand You is an unapologetically hilarious comedy horror film. Starring Nick Kroll and Andrew Rannells as a gay couple planning to adopt a baby while on vacation in Italy, the two quickly realize they know very little about the Italian language or culture. The movie premiered at South by Southwest in 2024 and is finally opening in theaters more than a year later.9. Echo Valley (in select theaters and streaming on Apple TV+ June 13)
Julianne Moore and Sydney Sweeney star in Echo Valley as mother and daughter in the throes of a highly dramatic event. When Claire shows up at her mom's front door drenched in blood, the matriarch has to make intense decisions to keep her child safe.8. Elio (in theaters June 20)
Oscar-winner Zoe Saldaña lends her voice to Disney's adorable animated movie Elio. The story revolves around an 11-year-old earthling (Yonas Kibreab) who is taken by aliens, sent into space and assumed to be a world leader.7. F1: The Movie (in theaters June 27)
F1 follows Brad Pitt as fictional Formula One driver Sonny Hayes who endures a tragic crash that sidelines him from his illustrious career. When asked to return to mentor a new rookie (Damson Idris), the journey takes him places he never thought possible.6. Ballerina (in theaters June 6)
In the illustrious John Wick spinoff, Ballerina, Ana de Armas stars as a ballet dancer hiding that she's a trained assassin who takes on an army of killers to get revenge on the people who killed her father. Hollywood legends like Anjelica Huston, Ian McShane and Keanu Reeves reprise their roles from the franchise.5. Materialists (in theaters June 13)
The romantic comedy is officially back in Materialists! In this star-packed romp featuring Dakota Johnson, Chris Evans and Pedro Pascal, one New York City matchmaker (Johnson) is torn between two men (Evans and Pascal). While at a wedding, she runs into her ex (Evans) and meets an alluring new prospect (Pascal) but will her strong business mind influence her beliefs on love?4. Something Beautiful (in theaters one night only)
Miley Cyrus' decadent musical film and visual album Something Beautiful is her most creative feat yet. Although the movie has no formal plot, the former Disney Channel star shows off all of her talents with sweeping artistic choices while belting out hits like "End of the World" and "More to Lose." The flick was shown in North American theaters for one night only on Thursday, June 12, with an international theatrical release to follow on Friday, June 27.3. M3GAN 2.0 (in theaters June 27)
The campy sci-fi horror sequel is as much fun as it is scary. Starring Allison Williams, Violet McGraw and Amie Donald, M3GAN 2.0 follows up the first film about a scary doll who goes on a killing spree. This time around, the toy's creator Gemma (Williams) decides to resurrect M3GAN in order to go up against the latest advances in AI technology.2. 28 Years Later (in theaters June 20)
The reviews are in, and it's official: 28 Years Later is a hit! The third installment in the Danny Boyle-helmed franchise scored a 90% fresh rating with critics on Rotten Tomatoes. Aaron Taylor-Johnson, Jodie Comer and Ralph Fiennes star in the post-apocalyptic horror film, which centers around the aftermath of a deadly and highly contagious virus.1. How To Train Your Dragon (in theaters June 13)
DreamWorks Animation's live-action remake of the 2010 cartoon How to Train Your Dragon stars Gerard Butler, Mason Thames and Nico Parker. The tale about the bond between a Viking and a Night Fury dragon is a fun experience — and the kids are sure to love seeing it in IMAX. The action flick scored an impressive 98% fresh rating with audiences on Rotten Tomatoes and went on to score the best opening weekend of any film in the franchise so far. It also landed on the list of Universal's top 100 highest-grossing films ever after just one week.
