Kevin McHale is grieving the loss of his close friend and colleague, Cory Monteith. The Glee actor finally opened up about the Canadian actor's sudden death via his official Twitter account on Monday, July 29.
"So thankful that I and so many of got to experience Cory's overwhelming kindness, humor and talent," the 25-year-old wrote. "There will not be a day that goes by that I won't miss him. Thank you all for your incredible supper and patience." He also added a photograph of the two on set of the FOX series.
McHale's comments came on the very same day his Glee costar and Monteith's girlfriend, Lea Michele, spoke out for the first time. "Thank you all for helping me through this time with your enormous love & support," the 26-year-old said via Twitter, sharing a touching snapshot of the couple. "Cory will forever be in my heart."
Monteith's other cast members have also found ways to honor and remember him since his tragic death. "I am so grateful that Glee brought this group of extraordinary individuals together to form a family," Jenna Ushkowitz said. "He was one of the most generous and kind people that I have ever met," Dianna Agron added. "He had a smart, curious mind, he was an enormous talent. He was loving to not only me but my family."
Darren Criss honored the young actor by donning a black ribbon on his collar during the red carpet premiere of his latest film, Girl Most Likely, at Landmark Sunshine Cinema in New York City on Monday, July 15. Matthew Morrison and Chord Overstreet, in addition, each dedicated a song during recent solo performances in New York and L.A.
Monteith died at 31 from "a mixed drug toxicity" consisting of heroin and alcohol on July 13. The comedy series will resume filming Season 5 in early August, and will pay tribute to the late actor in its third episode.
Glee returns Thursday, Sept. 26, at 9:00 p.m. EST on FOX.
