The Danish royal family released
a statement announcing that Princess Josephine "has chosen, at her own request, to continue her education in the 8th grade at Spir Efterskole," a boarding school in Snaptun in Jutland. She's the first of
King Frederik X and
Queen Mary's four children to leave Copenhagen for school. She had previously been enrolled in Kildegård Privatskole since 2023. Her twin brother,
Prince Vincent, meanwhile, will continue his studies at Tranegårdsskolen, which he has attended since 2017.

Princess Josephine and Prince Vincent's older brother — Prince Christian, 19, who's first in line to the Danish throne — is continuing his military duties. "HRH The Crown Prince continues his education in the Armed Forces, while the royal couple's other three children begin a new school year," the Danish royal family's statement noted.

Princess Isabella, 18, is set to attend Øregård Gymnasium, from which Prince Christian graduated in June 2024. "HRH Princess Isabella will continue her upper secondary education at Øregård Gymnasium. The Princess will become a student in the summer of 2026," the royal family's statement continued.

X users were supportive of Princess Josephine's decision, which breaks from royal tradition. "It's wonderful to see Princess Josephine making her own choices about the future at such a young age,"
one user wrote. "Her confidence and independence will no doubt inspire many other young people."
