Daily Express reported that
Prince Harry made about $27 million from publishing
Spare.
However, the
Daily Mail claimed he received a $20 million advance for a four-book deal worth an alleged $40 million with Penguin Random House.

Spare, but he continues to defend the project.
"I know that [speaking out] annoys some people and it goes against the narrative," the Duke of Sussex told
The Guardian. "The book? It was a series of corrections to stories already out there. One point of view had been put out, and it needed to be corrected."

"I don't believe that I aired my dirty laundry in public,"
Prince Harry continued. "It was a difficult message, but I did it in the best way possible. My conscience is clear."

Prince Harry's decision to publicly complain about royal life negatively impacted his ties to the royal family. However, the Duke of Sussex still wants to reconcile with his family.
"It would be nice to reconcile," Harry told the BBC. "If they want that, it's entirely up to them."
