Queen Elizabeth II gifted Kate Middleton jewelry from her personal collection.
"Her Majesty was extremely generous on Kate's birthday, and gifted her with some jewels from her private collection," a source told
New Idea.

"There was one very special diamond set that brought tears to Kate's eyes — the Coronation Necklace and Earrings," the source continued.

Kate Middleton was moved by Queen Elizabeth II's gesture.
"It [the present] is very dear to the Queen, who wore it at her own coronation, as did her mom, the Queen Mother, and her grandmother, Queen Mary, when their husbands became King," the source said. "The Queen told Kate it's only right that she is the next queen to wear them."

Kate Middleton previously reflected on her dynamic with Queen Elizabeth II in a documentary.
"The most memorable engagement for me, I suppose, was an away day to Leicester, and I went without William, so I was rather apprehensive about that," Kate said in Our Queen at 90. "I think there is a real art to walkabouts, everyone teases me in the family that I spend far too long chatting, so I think I've still got to learn a little bit more and pick up a few more tips, I suppose. "

"She was very supportive," Kate Middleton continued. "The fact she took the time to make sure that I was happy and looked after for that particular occasion, which probably in everything that she's doing is a very small element, which just shows how caring she is, really."
