In July, Meghan Markle will
reportedly join
Prince Harry in Birmingham for the one-year countdown party leading up to Invictus Games 2027. The visit will be the Duchess of Sussex's first trip to the U.K. since
Queen Elizabeth II's funeral in September 2022.
_
Despite the development, Meghan Markle's visit will depend on
Prince Harry's ongoing battle with the British government over their protection. "Security is always going to be the deciding factor in this," a source told
The Sun.

Prince Harry's taxpayer-funded security is currently under review. The Duke of Sussex, Meghan Markle, and their two children,
Prince Archie and
Princess Lilibet, haven't made many trips to England since their government protection was downgraded when they left the royal family.

During an interview with the
BBC,
Prince Harry said of traveling to his home country without security, "I can't see a world in which I would bring my wife and children back to the U.K. at this point."

Royal correspondent
Jennie Bond feels
Prince Harry and his family should be given protection. "Security is offered to a former prime minister who served barely any longer than a lettuce takes to wilt, then surely the son of
King Charles III deserves the same?
Prince Harry is asking for the Metropolitan Police to protect him and (if he were to bring them) his family on occasional visits to the UK. It does not seem an unreasonable request," she wrote in
The I Paper. "He cannot change the fact that he is the King's son."

According to
The Sun,
Prince Harry wants King Charles III to open the 2027 Invictus Games in Birmingham despite their ongoing rift. Other members of the royal family will also reportedly be invited.
