According to royal expert
Russell Myers' new biography,
William and Catherine: The Intimate Inside Story via
The Mirror,
Prince William floated the idea of giving Prince George a normal moniker. The author claimed the Prince of Wales told his press team, "What do you think about Rodney for a boy, or maybe Graham?"

While
Prince William and
Kate Middleton didn't choose either of those names for Prince George, they had fun weighing their options. "The couple had been given a book of baby names by a close friend, which they spent hours thumbing through — they often ended up in fits of laughter after one or the other had presented a more left-field suggestion," Russell Myers wrote.

Russell Myers claimed
Prince William had certain hopes for their first child. "Kate [Middleton] had her heart set on Alexander for a boy or Alexandra [also
Queen Elizabeth II's middle name] for a girl. William had privately voiced his preference for having a girl and was keen to incorporate a tribute to his late mother, most likely in the form of a middle name," he wrote. Luckily, the couple welcomed their daughter,
Princess Charlotte, in 2015.

Despite being the future king of England,
Prince William and Kate Middleton are doing their best to let Prince George enjoy his childhood. "As far as we're concerned, within our family unit we are a normal family," the patriarch said in an interview with
BBC News. "I love my children the same way any father does, and I hope [Prince] George loves me the same way any son does to his father, so we are very normal in that sense."
