According to
Russell Myers' biography,
William & Catherine: The Intimate Inside Story via
RadarOnline.com,
Prince William "implored" Queen Elizabeth II and King Charles III to "take immediate action" against Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor over his ties to
Jeffrey Epstein.

Russell Myers claimed that after Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor's disastrous 2019 BBC
interview,
Prince William wanted the former Duke of York "out of the picture" for "not only the public backlash but for his own future."

As
Prince William is next in line to the throne after King Charles III, the Prince of Wales feared the royal family's downfall due to Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor. "Once you understand the fact that everything that happens in the here and now affects everything in the future, William's future, it is very easy to put yourself in his shoes," a source told Russell Myers. "He never much liked his uncle."

Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor left a stain on the monarchy after his arrest on suspicion of misconduct in public office for allegedly giving information to Jeffrey Epstein while serving as the U.K.'s trade envoy. "Following a thorough assessment, we have now opened an investigation into this allegation of misconduct in public office," Assistant Chief Constable Oliver Wright confirmed in a statement. "It is important that we protect the integrity and objectivity of our investigation as we work with our partners to investigate this alleged offense. We understand the significant public interest in this case and we will provide updates at the appropriate time." Last year, King Charles III finally stripped his brother of his titles and evicted him from Royal Lodge.

Before Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor was taken into custody, additional information was released by the U.S. Department of Justice linking him to Jeffrey Epstein.
Prince William and
Kate Middleton responded to the scandal in a statement via their representatives, which read: "I can confirm the Prince and Princess [Kate Middleton] have been deeply concerned by the continuing revelations. Their thoughts remain focused on the victims."

While King Charles III eventually banished Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor, it took
Prince William pestering him to make it happen. "The King finally bowed to his son's demands over his disastrous attempts to rehabilitate his corrupt brother Prince Andrew and agreed to ban Prince Andrew from all further public-facing family events," journalist
Tom Sykes wrote in a post shared to The Royalist
Substack in 2025.
