Fraudster Anna Sorokin, who's famously depicted in the viral Netflix show "Inventing Anna," is being deported to Germany this week, according to a report out of Europe.
The news comes as the 31-year-old, who also goes by the name Anna Delvey, complained about how she's being treated at an ICE detention facility, where she's currently being housed.
Anna gained fame while scamming New York City socialites out of hundreds of thousands of dollars for several years, as she pretended to be a German heiress. Along the way, she stayed in ritzy hotels, dined at top restaurants, shopped at high-end fashion boutiques and ripped off friends who believed she had a $60 million trust fund in Europe.
"Inventing Anna" documented her lengthy hotel visits, including a trip to Morocco where she and a friend stayed in a villa at the La Mamounia hotel for $7,000-a-night.
Anna, who's played by Julia Garner in the Netflix show, was eventually caught in Los Angeles as part of a sting operation, and in 2019 she was convicted of second-degree larceny, theft of services and first-degree attempted larceny for swindling $200,000 from banks and luxury hotels.
In February, she was released from Riker's Island, New York's largest prison. However, shortly thereafter she was taken into custody by Immigration and Customs Enforcement for overstaying her visa.
On March 13, she lamented about ICE conditions, writing on Instagram, "Rikers is like [La Mamounia hotel] in comparison to this lawless ICE OCJail."
She added, "Rikers could never get away with letting someone out for 15 [minutes] a day, like ICE is doing with me yet again, 'quarantine' or not. So far ICE OCJail has been giving [me] nothing but major 'credit card declined' vibes."
German newspaper Spiegel Panorama reported that Anna attempted to apply for asylum in the United States, but her plea was declined and she will be deported this week.
According to reports, Anna settled her debts and paid her state fines with the $320,000 she received for selling her life story to Netflix.
