While filming the new season of "The Real Housewives of New York," Luann de Lesseps had help to keep her on the straight and narrow.
Page Six reported on Feb, 19 that the reality TV star "worked closely" with a sober coach, especially during cast trips, to ensure that she wouldn't slip up and imbibe with her castmates. And, now that the season has wrapped, Luann is reportedly still sober.
Rarely (maybe never) does a "Housewives" episode not feature the women in a boozy affair. This year saw the cast surrounded by alcohol even more than usual. Because many typical activities were off the table due to COVID protocols, more scenes than usual were said to take place in bars, restaurants, homes or other settings where drinking is normal.
"Most people in her situation would avoid bars and that kind of thing, but she didn't have that option. It really made her nervous," a source told the New York Post's gossip page. Still, having maintained her sobriety despite the temptations, the source said, "We're really proud of her. She has a lot of support and works really hard."
Luann's drinking had been an issue in the past, especially in her personal life.
The "Housewives" star was arrested on Christmas Eve 2017 in Palm Beach, Florida, after she allegedly attacked a cop while she was drunk. As part of a plea deal, she was prohibited from drinking alcohol. Probation officers said Luann, who went to rehab in the summer of 2018, violated those terms at least twice.
In May 2019, she was taken into custody for probation violations stemming from her Florida arrest. A judge then determined that she wasn't taking her probation serious enough — in part because she failed to prove she was attending Alcoholics Anonymous meetings, and also because she admitted to drinking mimosas while on her cabaret tour. The judge imparted new stricter probation terms.
Since then, Luann has clearly figured it out.
