Eva Longoria
Eva Longoria and her family split their time between Mexico and Spain; however, they had done so before Donald Trump's reelection and for other reasons, including work. With that said, the current political and social climate in the U.S. seems to be actively keeping the actress away.
In one interview, she acknowledged what a privilege it was for her to be able to leave, saying, "Most Americans aren't so lucky. They're going to be stuck in this dystopian country."
Ryan Gosling and Eva Mendes
Discreet couple Eva Mendes and Ryan Gosling appeared to temporarily move to London in 2025 for the Notebook actor's film Starfighter, per Us Weekly. The move is not permanent, nor related to Trump.
Sophie Turner
The British actress Sophie Turner left the U.S. amid her divorce from the father of her children, Joe Jonas, relocating to the U.K. While the move had more to do with being close to family and friends than with the political climate, this was also a definite factor. "The gun violence, Roe v Wade being overturned… Everything just kind of piled on," she said in 2024.America Ferrera
America Ferrera has been rumored to be swapping the U.S. for the U.K., with a source telling Daily Mail that the Superstore actress felt "sick" over Donald Trump's reelection.Meanwhile, a source told Hello!, "It looks like she's planning to move to South West London."
Her move still hasn't been confirmed.
Ellen DeGeneres and Portia de Rossi
While many celebs cite Donald Trump as one factor for their U.S. exodus, Ellen DeGeneres has been very clear about her motives for remaining in the U.K. with wife Portia de Rossi."We got here the day before the election and woke up to lots of texts from our friends with crying emojis, and I was like, 'He got in,'" DeGeneres said, per BBC. "And we're like, 'We're staying here.'"
That said, there have since been reports that the couple may be considering returning to their home country.
James Cameron
James Cameron could have returned to his native Canada amid the current state of affairs in the U.S., but chose to relocate to faraway New Zealand instead, in part because of their handling of the COVID pandemic as opposed to America's."Where would you rather live?" he asked in January 2026. "A place that actually believes in science and is sane and where people can work together cohesively to a common goal, or a place where everybody's at each other's throats, extremely polarized, turning its back on science and basically would be in utter disarray if another pandemic appears."
George and Amal Clooney
George Clooney and Amal Clooney now live with their family in France, a decision which has been characterized as "primarily because of Trump." The couple and their two children are now French citizens, further cementing their new life in the European country.Rosie O'Donnell
Rosie O'Donnell's father was born in Belfast, Northern Ireland, so it's no surprise that when the comedian decided to leave the U.S., she set her sights on Éire. The move was inspired in large part by her nonbinary child, whom she felt would be much safer away from the United States. "It looks like sadly we were correct, for what's happening in the United States is overwhelmingly depressing, unconstitutional, illegal, criminal, and so so very sad," O'Donnell said in 2025.Courtney Love
Courtney Love is American-born, but has lived in the U.K. for several years. She announced that her move would be permanent in 2025, citing the current administration as one of the factors keeping her across the pond. "In terms of Trump and particularly this group…it's like emperor-core," she said at the time. "Like, [they're] wearing million-dollar watches. Emperor-core is going on at Mar-a-Lago. It's frightening now. It's like cyanide now."Richard Gere
Richard Gere moved to Spain in large part so his Spanish wife, Alejandra Silva, could be close to her roots, a move which the Pretty Woman star has said has been amazing for their family. While Gere didn't leave the U.S. because of Donald Trump, he has expressed concern about the "very dark direction" the country is headed.Robin Wright
American actress Robin Wright has lived in the U.K. for several years, telling The Times of London in 2025, "America is a s***show. I love being in this country. There's a freedom of self here. People are so kind."While Wright left before Donald Trump's reelection, she is also seemingly glad to be away from the difficult political situation in the U.S.
