Melania Trump turned heads in her handsewn Adam Lippes navy outfit she wore to the Monday, January 20, inauguration ceremony.
While some fans were enthusiastic about the first lady's look, others felt as though she was dressed for a melancholy occasion.

Before marrying Donald Trump, Melania was a working model in New York who always had an affinity for fashion. However, her clothing choices weren't embraced by all Americans.
"Melania Trump is dressed like she's on her way to a funeral #Inauguration2025 still ate tho," one person shared on X, formerly known as Twitter.
"Melania Trump's dress code and body language is giving funeral," another exclaimed.
Aside from reminding people of a burial, others compared Melania to popular characters.
"Why the h— does Melania Trump look like the Hamburgler?" someone asked on X, referring to iconic movie character.
"Melania Trump out there looking like a Spy vs. Spy cartoon," one penned.
The Trumps often attract controversy, but some X accounts reminded people that they can dislike Melania's husband without degrading her.
"You can hate Trump all you want, but are we really going to pretend like Melania's outfit isn't dope just because Kim [Kardashian] shared it? Meanwhile [Barack] Obama and Trump were talking and laughing just the other day," a person stated on the app owned by Elon Musk. "Poor people are always the ones killing themselves."
"Hate the Trumps all ya'll want but Melania is class and style," another stated.
Melania and her stylist, Herve Pierre, often pull clothes from freestanding stores, as some fashion houses have chosen not to work with the jewelry designer. Still, American designer Adam Lippes is proud of his work being on display during Donald's swearing-in ceremony.
"The tradition of the presidential inauguration embodies the beauty of American democracy and today we had the honor to dress our first lady, Mrs. Melania Trump," Adam told the New York Post in a statement. "Mrs. Trump's outfit was created by some of America's finest craftsmen and I take great pride in showing such work to the world."
