Donald Trump complained about Sarah Boardman's work. The artist previously worked on a painting of Barack Obama. "Nobody likes a bad picture or painting of themselves, but the one in Colorado, in the State Capitol, put up by the Governor, along with all other Presidents, was purposefully distorted to a level that even I, perhaps, have never seen before," Trump wrote on Truth Social.
"The artist also did President Obama, and he looks wonderful, but the one on me is truly the worst," he added. "She must have lost her talent as she got older."

Donald Trump later shared that his fans didn't appreciate seeing the artwork in Colorado.
"I would much prefer not having a picture than having this one, but many people from Colorado have called and written to complain," the former reality star wrote.
"In fact, they are actually angry about it!" he added.

Donald Trump has been a vocal critic of democratic states, and he credited the poor image to Colorado's politics.
"I am speaking on their behalf to the Radical Left Governor, Jared Polis, who is extremely weak on Crime, in particular with respect to Tren de Aragua, which practically took over Aurora (Don't worry, we saved it!), to take it down. Jared should be ashamed of himself," Trump wrote.

X users had a lot to say about Donald Trump's reaction to the painting. Many felt the president's priorities were out of order.
"Imagine being so thin-skinned that a painting sets you off more than an insurrection," one X user wrote.
"Trump's meltdown over this portrait is the most on-brand thing he's done all week," the X user added. "The man who wants to 'run the world' can't handle brush strokes."

Not everyone agrees with Donald Trump that the painting is a poor representation of him.
"That portrait makes him look more attractive and respectable than he actually is," one X user wrote.
"He's gotten used to all of the muscular AI images he's seen of himself," another said.

Another social media user was annoyed by Donald Trump's decision to focus on a painting instead of mending his feud with Ukrainian president Volodymyr Zelensky.
"He should be leading the nation and the world to prosperity, including ensuring Ukraine's sovereignty is protected," one user pointed out. "America used to be the leader of free world."
