Thomas Massie opposed every procedural move to advance Donald Trump's bill.
"I don't think Thomas Massie understands government. I think he's a grandstander and I think he should be voted out of office," Trump told journalists before meeting with Speaker

Despite the differences of opinion within the Republican Party, Donald Trump still believes his peers are on his side.
"It's not a question of holdouts, we have a tremendously unified party," the president stated. "I don't think we've ever had a party like this. There are some people that want a couple of things that maybe I don't like or they're not going to get."
Trump later acknowledged that lawmakers "gotta make a couple of tweaks" to the bill before it reaches its final stage.

Donald Trump later praised Mike Johnson, as he's working toward getting the bill approved.
"I don't think there's anybody that's more well-suited to be speaker of the House," Trump stated, adding that he's a "big fan" of the Louisiana politician.

Republicans have been curious about how Donald Trump's plan will change requirements for Medicaid, the federal government's obligations to Medicaid, the green energy subsidies from Joe Biden's Inflation Reduction Act and the SALT tax cap for both state and local taxes.
"We're not doing any cutting of anything meaningful," Trump said when discussing the Medicaid reform in the megabill. "The only thing we're cutting is waste, fraud and abuse."

Republicans in Democratic states have been concerned about how the SALT bill will affect their constituents.
"We don't want to benefit Democrat governors, although I would do that if it made it better, " Donald Trump warned. "We want to benefit Republicans because they are the ones that are going to Make America Great Again. Democrats are destroying our country."
