Bob Guiney is once again in need of the specialized matchmaking services only reality TV can provide. E! News reports the onetime star of "The Bachelor" and "The Bachelorette" has called it quits with "All My Children" actress Rebecca Budig after five years of marriage.
"I can confirm that they are separated, yet they very much love each other and remain committed to one another as best friends," says Guiney's rep. "They are working to figure out what their future holds and hope that people can respect their privacy at this time."
The couple echoes that sentiment in a statement to People magazine: "We love each other very much. We are best friends and don't know what the future holds."
But insiders believe there's little hope left for the relationship.
"Lately it's become clear that nothing is going to save this," a Budig confidant admits to the mag. "They've just grown apart and are no longer the people they were when they got married."
Adds the source, "They've been on the rocks for a long time ... It's over and it's been over for a while now."
And Guiney apparently can't wait to get back in the singles game.
"Bob is definitely eager to become a free man and already has his eye on a few girls he'd like to date," a snitch tells Star. "He's a naturally charming guy and pretty girls are drawn to him so he won't have to work to hard to find a girlfriend."
(Yes, we, too, find that assessment really obnoxious, but moving on ...)
Early last year, Budig exited the then New York-based "All My Children" to spend more time in Los Angeles with her hubby. But it seems proximity didn't help matters (the soap recently moved to L.A., with the actress back on board).
People reports she was without her wedding ring during an appearance at the Television Critics Association gathering in Pasadena, Calif., on Wednesday.
When asked about the missing rock, she brushed it off by saying she was running late and simply "forgot to put it on" as she rushed out the door.
Guiney, 38, and Budig, 36, who each have a failed marriage under their belt, met while filming a "Bachelor" recap show in January 2003.
They began dating that November, not long after Bob slipped a diamond sparkler on the right hand of contestant Estella Gardinier during the "Bachelor" finale, explaining to her and the viewing public that he wasn't yet ready to re-tie the knot (he'd previously been rejected by Trista Rehn, nee Sutter).
He proposed to Budig with a 2-carat ring in May 2004, and they tearfully tied the knot in a surprise ceremony six weeks later.
